Description :

Good full red. Ripe plum, briary spices, subtle herbs and a peppery nuance on the nose. At once lush and tangy, with terrific lift to the moderately ripe flavors of dark plum, spice, flowers and pepper. Perfumed and flavorful wine with the energy of the vintage in spades. Not fleshy but there's no shortage of stuffing here.

"Régisseur (resident manager) Thierry Brouin called the summer of 2007, lousy. The flowering was extended and irregular and thus all during the growing season we had fruit at varying stages of maturity, which always presents a problem as to when to pick.

Fortunately, we had reasonable phenolic maturity very early so I decided that it was better, and easier on our harvesters, to pick early and eliminate the under ripe grapes than it would be to pick late and try and eliminate the figgy grapes.

We might have even picked a bit earlier but I have noticed that the anti-rot treatments we used due to the rotten summer have a tendency to retard maturities a bit. Sugars were good without being high at around 12% and I did a 15 day total cuvaison with a relatively high percentage of whole bunches. Overall, 2007 is a perfectly good vintage though it’s by no means a great one.

The wines should drink well young and provide a lot of pleasure as they will be accessible and not especially structured."

"The 2011 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru has a light, brambly, red-berry nose intermingling with freshly tilled soil and subtle gravel scents that become more accentuated with aeration. The palate is nicely balanced with crisp tannins, plenty of tart-cherry fruit and concludes with a linear mineral-driven finish that feels uncompromising and just a little mean at the moment, though I suspect it will gain more weight as it this grand cru often does. Drink 2016-2028. " (2014)
