History
    •    The estate was founded by Franck Soulayrol, the son of a winegrower and nephew of the Vaillé family (La Grange des Pères).
    •    After several years working in various French wine regions, he returned to his home area in 2021 to set up his estate. The first vintage is 2021.
    •    Within a few vintages it has become one of the most promising and most confidential young estates in the Languedoc.

The estate in figures
    •    A vineyard of about 6 ha.
    •    Located in Liausson (Hérault), on the shores of Lake Salagou, between Béziers and Montpellier.
    •    Tiny production, sold on allocation.

The wines
    •    Red (IGP Pays d’Hérault, Coteaux du Salagou): the estate’s cuvée. A blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah and Sangiovese. Mourvèdre brings structure, Syrah dark fruit and spice, Sangiovese freshness and tension.
    •    Chenin is also listed among the estate’s grape varieties.

The signature
    •    Dark, deep reds with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry, violet, pepper, garrigue and liquorice.
    •    An ample, velvety palate with fine tannins, good freshness and a mineral finish.
    •    Wines for ageing, best given a few years or decanted when young.

In the vineyard
    •    The varied soils of the Salagou: schist, limestone, marl and molasse.
    •    Organic farming, manual work.

In the cellar
    •    Low-intervention winemaking to preserve the precision of the fruit.
    •    Aged in 228-litre Burgundy barrels (pièces).

Reputation
    •    Enthusiasts often compare it with Bergerie de l’Arcade and Maxime Renaudin, the new Languedoc generation following in the footsteps of La Grange des Pères.
    •    Described by iDealwine as one of the region’s rising stars.
