History
    •    Maxime Renaudin came to wine as a career change
    •    He trained in 2017 at La Grange des Pères, with the late Laurent Vaillé (who died in 2021), one of the great names of the Languedoc.
    •    He founded his estate in 2018. The first vintage is 2018.
    •    He is described as one of the rising stars of the Languedoc

The estate in figures
    •    About 5 ha of vines, in Jonquières and Saint-Saturnin-de-Lucian, at the foot of the Larzac (Hérault).
    •    The wine is made in a small cellar set up at his home in Combaillaux, pending a proper winery.
    •    A tiny production: fewer than 7,000 bottles a year, about 2,500 of them for the main red.

The cuvées
    •    Pays d’Hérault red: the main cuvée, a blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah (about 40% Carignan, the rest split between Grenache and Syrah depending on the source).
    •    Pays d’Hérault Carignan: 100% Carignan, a micro-production since the 2021 vintage.
    •    All the wines are IGP Pays d’Hérault.

The signature
    •    Elegant, fresh reds that focus on purity of fruit rather than power.
    •    Black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), spice and garrigue, with a round structure and natural freshness.
    •    The 2018 has been compared to a Burgundy for its finesse; the Carignan is darker and more structured.
    •    Wines for the cellar: 8 to 12 years of ageing is recommended.

In the vineyard
    •    Clay-limestone soils, swept by the wind.
    •    No chemicals or weedkillers: farming close to organic, but not certified.
    •    Hand harvesting.

In the cellar
    •    Grapes 100% destemmed.
    •    Each variety and each plot is vinified separately; the blend is made just before bottling.
    •    Gentle extraction, closer to infusion, to keep freshness.
    •    24 months of ageing in French oak barrels, with very little sulphur.
