One of the finest cuvees of regular Hermitage Guigal has ever produced is the 2003 Hermitage. Copiously fruity with a blackberry/cassis liqueur note, huge, flowery, almost chocolatey richness with superb freshness, purity, and a stunning thickness and opulence, this is spectacular Hermitage

| La Mouline, which includes the highest percentage of co-fermented Viognier (11%), is always the more delicate, voluptuous wine with the most complex aromatics. La Turque is a denser, more gamy, meaty effort with approximately 7% Viognier co-fermented. It comes across as a completely different style of wine. La Landonne, which is grown in pure schist on the steep hillsides of the northern-most sector of the appellation, is 100% Syrah. It is the densest, most concentrated, masculine, and tannic of these three cuvees. | ![]() |

"One of the finest cuvees of regular Hermitage Guigal has ever produced is the 2003 Hermitage. Copiously fruity with a blackberry/cassis liqueur note, huge, flowery, almost chocolatey richness with superb freshness, purity, and a stunning thickness and opulence, this is spectacular Hermitage that should drink well for 30+ years." "Ripe and concentrated, this shows plum, currant and cherry fruit intertwined with spice, espresso and black licorice notes. Has a tarry, slightly raisined edge to the finish, but the structure and heady fruit take an encore, boding well for cellaring, though you may always wrestle with the tannins. Best from 2008 through 2017." (Jun 2007)

"Ruby-red. Fresh raspberry and cherry on the nose, with a suave floral quality adding complexity. Seemed to gain freshness with air, the fruit picking up zesty minerality and sexy baking spices. Undeniably rich but this possesses uncanny elegance and vivacity for an Hermitage, much less one from this hot vintage." (Apr 2008)
