"Tasted from tank, Pico’s 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux Mise Tardive is wilder in profile than either the ’15 or ’17 renditions, displaying aromas of waxy lemon, bruised pear, apricot, mint and vine smoke. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a tangy spine of acidity and an aromatic finish. I don’t think this will ever rival the vintages that bracket it, but it’s a fine effort in a very challenging vintage."
