Description of the Champagne Pouillon
Grande Vallée is the house's entry-level cuvée and has replaced the Brut Réserve since the 2019 base. It blends about 65% Pinot Noir, 20% Meunier and 15% Chardonnay from five villages: Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Mutigny, Avenay-Val-d'Or, Épernay and Festigny
It shows a golden colour with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose opens on acacia and white flowers, then candied pear, summer honey and orange zest, with a saline touch. The palate is silky and taut, carried by lively acidity and chalky minerality. The finish recalls toasted almond and ripe yellow fruit. This is a generous yet precise grower Champagne, ideal as an aperitif or with food.
"Orange zest, ripe pear, hazelnut and spice. Medium to full-bodied, with vibrant acidity and a long finish." (Kristaps Karklins, Wine Advocate, 91/100)
