Sentier du Clou is a steep, south-east-facing premier cru on the slopes above the village of Saint-Aubin. The domaine owns about 0.4 ha of Chardonnay there, planted in 2007 and Guyot-pruned, on very calcareous white marl soils covered with scree and rich in fossils. It is a cool site that gives taut wines. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed. The wine ferments in French oak barrels and is aged there for 11 to 12 months, 50% new, before being bottled at the domaine.
The 2024 shows a nose of citrus peel and white fruit, with a youthful touch of oak. The palate is fine, bright and taut, carried by a clear mineral freshness. This is a precise, lively Saint-Aubin that will benefit from a year or two in bottle and can age gracefully for several years.
