The village Morey-Saint-Denis comes from two plots totalling about 1.8 hectares, En la Rue de Vergy and Les Larrets. They lie high up on limestone soils, above the Clos des Lambrays and the Clos de Tart, and are the estate’s last to be picked (15 September in 2023). Unlike the rest of the range, the wine is made without whole bunches, then aged 15 to 18 months in oak barrels, about half of them new.
The colour is ruby with purple tints. The nose combines black cherry and fresh raspberry, peony and violet, with a touch of orange zest, undergrowth and limestone. The palate is fresh and taut, with silky tannins, lively acidity and a long, spicy, slightly saline finish. A classy village Morey that could pass for a premier cru and will gain from a few years in the cellar.
